Fine Art

We describe a category of Printmaking as Fine Art. Many mediums are included such as Oils and Acrylics, Watercolors, even Pencil, Pen & Ink and Charcoal, but certainly not all examples of each medium can be considered as Fine Art. All of the Hawaii Fine Art presented here are my own, original photographic creations, made in Hawaii. and finished using any number of artistic techniques.

Primarily working in PhotoShop after the original capture of an image in camera, for the most part, in working with my Hawaiian Landscape Fine Art, I've applied minimal techniques such as punching up the contrast and saturation, and possibly adding a photo filter. In some cases, as with "Hanalei Valley - Painted", and "Molokai Heiau - Painted", I've applied a variety of filters, and digitally painted in brushstrokes.

In a couple of my Hawaiian Landmarks Fine Art images, I felt I needed to exercise some artistic license in order to make the image "right". For example, The Natatorium only had one light working on the archway when I captured that image, so I lit the other one artistically. And before I could overlay Duke's statue's image over the Natatorium, I had to remove palm trees and other distractions to get a clean image to work with.

To prepare my Hawaiian Flowers Fine Art Prints, primarily I used cropping and selective darkening and blurring. And for my Hawaiian Cloudscapes Fine Art, well there's really nothing that can be done to improve God's Watercolors!
